Fri Mar 13, 3:37 pm ET

FOX POINT, Wis. – A robber gets more than he bargained for when he targeted a Tae Kwon Do studio in suburban Milwaukee. The robber thought he could quietly slip in and out of David Kang's studio in Fox Point with some loot. What he didn't realize is that he would encounter a Tae Kwon Do master who wasn't about to let him off the hook.
FOX POINT - A thief though he could rip off a master Tae Kwon Do instructor. Instead he found himself almost getting ripped up.

Master Instructor David Kang was giving a student lessons at his Black Belt Academy in Fox Point. Master Kang took a water break and went into his office. He noticed his closet door was open with a light on.

He went to check it out and saw the suspect going through his clothes.

"What are you doing in my office?" asked Kang.

The suspect acted surprised and put his hands behind his back. He then told Master Kang he was looking for a ballet school for his daughter.

"I said, 'Yeah, you think this is a ballet school? This is my office!'"

Kang grabbed the thief by the collar and told him to sit while he called the police. But the guy took off and Kang gave chase.

The suspect went into an optical store next door and Kang grabbed him by the collar again but Kang lost his grip when he slipped on the wet floor.

The suspect took off again and ended up in a book store with carpet.

"With the carpet there is no more slipping. And I told him, 'Don't do anything.'"

At that point, the thief tried to convince customers he was the victim. "He said to people, 'This guy keeps chasing me and bothering me. He's crazy, leave me alone!' So I said, 'Okay. I'm crazy what?' So I grab him again and said, 'You want to get out. You're gonna break my arm.'"

Master Kang didn't have to use Tae Kwon Do. But he was ready if the guy took a punch.

He held the suspect, 49-year-old Billy Brooks, until police came and arrested him.

Police did find Kang's wallet in his jacket.

One thing is for sure you don't mess with Master Kang.

"I'm ready to go anytime," Kang said.
Kang was giving a private lesson Tuesday and heard someone in his office. Kang found the man going through his closet, grabbed him by the neck and sat him down while he called police.

The robber took off and Kang gave chase, finally catching up with the man and holding him by the neck until police arrived.
