2008 WORLD CLASS CHAMPIONSHIPS
Tournament proceeds provide scholarship funding for international athletes
Grand Rapids, Michigan, August 19, 2008 – Over 600 national and international athletes of all ages and belt ranks
will compete in the Tae Park Tae Kwon Do 2008 World Class Championships scheduled for Saturday November 8,
2008 starting at 9:00AM to 5:00PM in the Ford Fieldhouse at Grand Rapids Community College. All proceeds from
the tournament will provide funding for scholarships that allows Tae Park Tae Kwon Do athletes to travel and
compete internationally. Spectators are welcome and admission is $5.00 for the day.
The decision was made to name Grand Rapids the site of the 2008 Tournament due to the tremendous success of
the 2007 Tournament. “The Grand Rapids area has much to offer the national and international competitors and
guests that will be attending this event. The organization feels that Grand Rapids is the type of vibrant community
that will support the event as it continues to grow internationally” stated Grand Master Tae Zee Park, a celebrated
Korean champion and founder of Tae Park Tae Kwon Do. The Tae Park Tae Kwon Do World Class Tournament is a
celebration of his work and teaching as much as it is a competitive event for his students.
About Grand Master Tae Zee Park:
Grand Master Tae Zee Park (9th dan) is a celebrated Korean champion and dedicated teacher. He founded Tae Park
Tae Kwon Do in Michigan in 1974. As a testament to his dedication and skill as a teacher and role model, his Tae
Kwon Do school has grown into a national organization with well over 2,000 black belts, 3 Junior Grand Masters, 10
Senior Master Instructors and 30 Master Instructors.
About Tae Kwon Do:
Tae Kwon Do is the Korean art of self-defense. It is designed as a non-violent art and system of complete body
exercises as well as being a way of life. It includes physical techniques, mental discipline, and a deep philosophy.

Tournament rules are those of the World Culture Headquarters, Kukkiwon and the Tae Park Tae Kwon Do Association. Safety equipment mandatory. (Note: “Permitted Techniques” and “Area”: Contact to the legal areas of the body armor by Punching (using the front parts of the forefinger and middle finger of the tightly clenched fist), and Kicking (using the parts of the foot below the ankle bone). Sparring: 2- 1 minute rounds (30 seconds rest between rounds) Single elimination. Medals given: (1) – Gold, (1) – Silver, and (2) - Bronze.

Tournament Uniform: Contestants are to wear a Tae Kwon Do uniform recognized and approved by the Tae Park Tae Kwon Do Association.

Form Competition rules: Color Belt contestants may perform any color belt form up to and including their own current color belt form. Black Belt contestants may perform any color belt form or Black Belt form up to and including their current Black Belt forms.

Required Safety equipment: Trunk pad, Head pad, Groin guard (male),
Hand / Forearm pads, Shin / Instep pads, and Mouth guard safety equipment.

The Tae Park Tae Kwon Do 2007 World Class Championship Tournament was held on November 17th in Grand Rapids at Grand Rapids Community College – Gerald Ford Field House. There were people attending and participating from all around the world including: several locations in Michigan , Tennessee , Ohio , Indiana , Kentucky , Tennessee , Wyoming , California and South Korea .

The Morey Charter Tae Kwon Do Students participated and did a fantastic job. We are very proud of them and what they have accomplished and thankful to the parents for their support!

Each Morey Charter Tae Kwon Do student received medals in form, one-step and/or sparring.
